Rios rushed for a school-record 350 yards to go with four touchdowns as the Scots (1-5 3AA North, 4-6 overall) defeated cross-town rival Ogden in the Iron Horse game, 42-10. Rios is tied for second in the state with 21 rushing touchdowns and the four wins was the most for Ben Lomond since 2003.
Wayment captured the class 5A state cross country championship with a time of 17:24.7, to win by 24 seconds over Weber's McKenna Lee. As a team, the Darts finished second behind American Fork.
Virgil led the Warriors (9-2-1 Region 1, 15-2-1 overall) into the class 5A state semifinals with a pair of playoff victories. She tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Syracuse and then found the net again in a 2-0 victory against Lehi. Weber will square off with Lone Peak today.
Turley captured the class 5-A No. 1 singles title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lone Peak's Leah Heimuli - her third straight state championship. The win kept her overall record unblemished during her high school career. As a team, the Darts finished second.
Howe shot a single-day state championship scoring record 10-under 62 in the first round and followed that up with a 68 to win the class 5-A state championship at Soldier Hollow Golf Course by one stroke over Davis High's Cole Ponich. As a team, the Warriors placed second, four shots behind Lone Peak.
Allen scored a pair on goals, one in Fremont's 2-1 victory over Northridge and the other midway through the second half in a 1-1 draw with Mountain Crest. The results kept the Silver Wolves (8-0-2 league, 12-0-2 overall) unbeaten and atop the Region 1 standings heading into the final week of the regular season.
Parsons won the multi-state Bob Firman Invitational in Eagle, Idaho on Sept. 27 (15:16) before taking first at the City-County Meet held at the Weber Country Fairgrounds four days later (15:32.29).
