Biggest Sports Thrill: "Winning state for the second year in a row (last season)."
Best advice I've ever received: "Focus on the task at hand, don't get too far ahead of yourself and don't think about the past."
Last week's accomplishments: Gerner helped lead the Darts to an undefeated Region 2 season and figures to be in contention for the individual title in the league's season-ending tournament today.
Gerner on their performance: "Overall, it's been a good season. It's been a season of highs and lows. As a team, the highs have outweighed the lows by far, but, individually, it's been kind of a struggle. Personally, I'm working on swing change. What I've seen this year that I've really liked is how deep our team is. We have a lot of freshman this year, that we weren't expecting, that have really stepped up and the rest of the team has really improved. (My expectations) are to win state. As a team we want a three-peat. We want to prove that it hasn't been a fluke and that we are the team to beat. Personally, I'd love to end by winning the individual (championship)."
Coach Lori Salvo on Gerner: "Laura has been a solid, consistent player for the last four years. She's such a great asset to our team. She is always focused and is an amazing, standout player. We are grateful that she is on our team."
After High School: "I am going to play collegiately at the University of Idaho. I'd like to major in exercise science and go into physical therapy."
