Biggest Sports Thrill: "The game-winner that I had last week is definitely up there."
Best advice I've ever received: "Remember where you come from. Don't let anything go to your head."
Last week's accomplishments: Wilson scored twice, including the golden goal, as the Lancers (5-1-1 Region 2, 7-2-1 overall) defeated Syracuse on Tuesday, 4-3. On Thursday, Layton earned a 1-1 draw versus Viewmont. He leads the team with six goals. The Lancers host fellow league co-leader Davis today.
Wilson on their performance: "We've definitely stepped it up since the beginning of the season. We're getting the chemistry back that we've had the last couple of years (on state semifinal squads). Everyone on the team is super close and enjoys playing with each other. (My teammates) are like brothers to me. The expectations were to come out as hard as we did the last few years because we want that state championship this year and I think everyone is willing to work hard enough to get it. (Against Davis) we need to make sure to play with heart. That's something I've tried to realize since it's my last season. If we can play with heart, play for Layton High and remember that state championship then I think that we can beat anybody that comes across our path."
Coach Rick Talamantez on Wilson: "He's a three-year varsity player. In the off-season I would see him at Gold's Gym running and lifting to help himself get prepared for the current season. He brings a lot of intensity when he is on the pitch and he strives to make his teammates better. Besides soccer, he is a fantastic student and a wonderful person. He is a man who will do great things for himself and others."
After High School: "I plan on serving an LDS (Church) mission. After that I want to go into marketing."
