Biggest Sports Thrill: "Probably (on Friday) when I (got a personal record) in the long jump (18' 1/2")."
Best advice I've ever received: "One of my track coaches (Michael Knight) says, 'Focus on one thing at a time.'"
Last week's accomplishments: Against Herriman on Tuesday, Skidmore hit an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game in an eventual 5-4 Syracuse win. Then, on Thursday, she scored the game-tying run in the sixth and helped lead the Titans (9-3 Region 2, 22-4 overall) to a 13-12 victory. Syracuse will continue its playoff push today at 4:30 against Riverton. She followed up her performance on the diamond by taking third in the long jump at the class 5-A state track and field championships on Friday.
Skidmore on their performance: "In both of my softball games I was in pressure situations at the end of the games. I had to just focus on the pitcher and try not to think about the whole thing. It helped me learn a lot about myself. I was definitely one of the best weeks I've ever had. (To keep advancing in the playoffs) we just need to work well as a team and play the best that we can."
Coach Kelly Anderson on Skidmore: "She's pretty phenomenal in both sports. She's really talented. Her speed is phenomenal. It puts so much pressure on people. She's a lefty slapper that puts the bat on top of the ball and then, on the bases, she's pretty tough to throw out. I don't ever see her without a smile on her face. She's one of nicest kids I've ever coached. Everybody loves her."
After High School: "I want to go to college and then go on an (LDS Church) mission. I think I might want to do track in college."
