Biggest Sports Thrill: "Definitely breaking the state record."
Best advice I've ever received: "One of my gymnastics coaches told me that I needed to get comfortable with being uncomfortable because that's how progress is made. That really stuck."
Last week's accomplishments: At Herriman's Twilight Invitational on Friday, Moses set a new state record with a vault of 10'10".
Moses on their performance: "I used to be a gymnast and I always wanted to try pole vaulting, but I wasnt going to give up gymnastics to go out for track. I decided to retire from gymnastics because I decided it was time for a change. (The pole vault) was super fun, I liked it and I happened to be good at it. (Former coach Roger) Buhrley really helped also. Looking back, I'm so glad that Coach Buhrley did not give up on me because I look back at my early videos and they were really bad. I'm so glad I stuck with it. (The Twilight Invite) wasn't the first time that I'd cleared 10'10", because we did a practice meet earlier in the week and that's when I first cleared it. I knew that I had done it once before so I was hoping I could pull it off again. I'm hoping to get 11 feet within the next week at region and at state I'm definitely going to shoot for first."
Coach Brian Berrong on Moses: "She picked up (pole vaulting) as a sophomore. She's a hard worker. A lot of times she and the other vaulters are there an hour after everyone else has left. She's very technical. She studies film and is a master of her craft. She's smart and a good student. Our vault coach, Andrew Tyndall, has done an amazing job."
After High School: "I definitely want to vault in college. I want to go into science."
